What Are RTP Cabinets?
What RTP means
RTP stands for Ready to Paint. RTP Cabinets are built in my shop in Ballinger, TX and arrive fully assembled, with the doors and drawers fitted and adjusted, and sanded flat to 120 grit. Some minor filling and fine-grit sanding may be desired before you prime and paint.
You choose the color, brand and sheen. Have them painted by an experienced painter, and you get a solid shop-built cabinet without paying for a full custom paint job.
How I build them
- Box: 3/4" 13-ply Baltic birch plywood
- Face frames and doors: poplar hardwood, shipped raw and sanded flat to 120 grit
- Clean interior: no visible interior nailers
- Hinges: soft-close concealed
- Delivered assembled: doors and drawers fitted and adjusted
RTP vs. RTA
RTA means ready to assemble: flat-pack boxes you put together yourself. RTP is different:
- Arrives assembled. Nothing to put together and no cam locks.
- Built solid. Baltic birch plywood box and a poplar face frame.
- Built to order. Normally built and delivered in 4 weeks.
- Built and supported locally. Need questions answered, an adjustment, or more cabinets later? You know who to call.
Painting
RTP Cabinets ship raw, sanded flat to 120 grit. Some minor filling and fine-grit sanding may be desired before priming. RTP Cabinets should be painted by an experienced painter who is knowledgeable in the wood products used for each cabinet style.

- Build time: built to order, normally built and delivered in 4 weeks.
- Pickup or local delivery only: free pickup at my shop in Ballinger, TX, or add Local Cabinet Delivery: $189 within 50 miles, $279 within 100 miles, or $459 within 225 miles. One delivery covers up to 12 cabinets in any mix of Flat Panel Shaker and Raised Panel Shaker, so 13 to 24 cabinets take two.
